We have three weeks until the end of the quarter!

Science Fair is finally over! We had fifteen students place with their projects! That means that over half of the class received an award! Awesome job! Hopefully, this was a great learning experience for everyone!

Please remember that you can always check Family Link to stay informed on your child's assignments. Your login information was handed out in November. If you need a password reminder, just let me know and I will get your information to you ASAP.

In math, we will work with order of operations and then begin using basic algebra to solve equations and fill in tables. In reading, we will spend a lot of time reviewing how to compare and contrast. In writing, we will write an expository essay and continue practicing the mechanics of grammar.

We are now halfway through third quarter!

Progress reports will go home today! Make sure you review it and sign it by Friday! Anyone who shows me a signed progress report tomorrow morning will receive 5 extra credit points in their lowest subject!

This is Love of Reading Week! I will have several guests coming in to read to the class. Most importantly, tomorrow is PJ Day! Your child is welcome to wear their PJs to school, as well as bring a blanket to lay on the floor to read with their friends. On Friday, your child may dress as their favorite book character. Please note that it MUST be appropriate, and it needs to be a BOOK character!

I am very impressed with the Galileo scores from last week! Students will be receiving tickets from me later this week based on their growth. We will have a class party next Tuesday (02/18) in the afternoon to celebrate our growth.

This week in math, we will finish our unit on multiplying and dividing fractions and take a test. In reading, we will spend a lot of time reading books together, as well as focus on poetry. In writing, we will continue working through the mechanics of grammar. In social studies, we will read a Scholastic newsletter.
