Weekly
01/21/14
I
hope everyone had a great three day weekend!
Remember
that by this point, your child should begin or schedule when they will perform
their science fair experiment. Results and data need to be clearly written in
their science fair notebooks by Tuesday, February 4th.
We
are making kindness a big focus for the rest of the year, as La Paloma Academy
is now a part of the Ben's Bells program. We are passing out Kindness Coins to
students, and they are asked to pass them on to students they find being kind
to others. Make sure to ask your child if they've gotten them!
This
week should go by fairly quickly! In math, we will finish up our unit on adding
and subtracting mixed numbers, and also spend a bit of time learning about
mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. In reading, students will take
a practice test to help predict their performance on the AIMS test in April. In
writing, we will finish a narrative essay about your child's best vacation. In
social studies, we will read through a Scholastic magazine and learn a little
about King Tut.
Spelling words this week (no challenge words!)
1) treasure
2) culture
3) future
4) adventure
5) moisture
6) lecture
7) pasture
8) measure
9) vulture
10) furniture
11) pleasure
12) mixture
13) departure
14) leisure
15) texture
Have a great week!
