This marks mid-quarter!  Expect progress reports to go home next Tuesday (09/03).

I am more than happy to meet with you after school, but remember that mandatory Parent Teacher Conferences will take place the week after Fall Break!

You can use engrade to check your child's grades throughout the week.  I try to update every day, but I will always have everything completely graded by Friday afternoons.  Your child was given a log in paper last week.

In math, we will continue learning about adding and subtracting decimals.  In reading, we will continue with Maniac Magee.  In writing, students will learn about conjunctions.  In social studies, we will continue reading about the early American settlers.

Happy Monday!

School pictures are tomorrow, and the book fair is running this week!

Remind your child that if they do not get their homework done, they will have to go to homework hall on Friday instead of having choice time.  You can check what homework assignments they have during the week in their planners, as we fill them out Monday-Thursday.

You can use engrade to check your child's grades throughout the week.  I try to update every day, but I will always have everything completely graded by Friday afternoons.  Your child was given a log in paper last week.

This week, we begin our Galileo testing.  These tests will be administered throughout the year to give me an idea of where your child is at.  It will help me predict how they will do on the AIMS, as well as show me what I need to reteach in order to make sure your child is successful.

Welcome to another week of first quarter!

Please make sure that you have purchased a planner for your child!  We use them almost every day and it also acts as your child's hall pass!

Remind your child that if they do not get their homework done, they will have to go to homework hall on Friday instead of having choice time.  You can check what homework assignments they have during the week in their planners, as we fill them out Monday-Thursday.  Math homework sometimes changes, so keep an eye on that!

As of today, every child is expected to have a copy of Maniac Magee.  If they do not have a copy by next Monday, (08/19), it will affect your child's grade.  Please come talk to me if there is a problem!

In math, we will finish up our unit on place value and take a test!  In reading, we will begin Maniac Magee.  In writing, students will work on the simple subject and predicate, as well as become introduced to a persuasive essay.  In science, we will read through a Scholastic news magazine and answer some comprehension and analysis questions.

Welcome to the second week of school!  We had a great first two days, and we will begin more rigorous academics starting today!

I would like to thank parents for sending so many supplies to my room!  I will make sure to use them efficiently throughout the year!

In math, we will begin reviewing place value through the billions and our multiplication facts.  It is important that your child knows their multiplication facts from 0-12.  If they do not know, please practice with them every day!

For reading, we will be focusing on following directions and using table of contents and indexes to answer questions.  Please remember that next week, we will start Maniac Magee and your child WILL need a copy of it!

In writing we will review the parts and types of sentences.
