Gonzales Weekly
04/08/13
Good
afternoon! I have a lot I need to cover
in this newsletter!
First
of all, it is AIMS week NEXT WEEK.
Please make sure that your child is here on time EVERY DAY. There will be no homework the week of AIMS.
That
brings us to our next topic! You may
notice that your child has an increased homework load. Part of this is a new policy I've put in
place to help ready your child for 6th grade. Any work they do not finish in class is
homework. If you have any questions,
please email/call/see me in person and we can discuss this to a greater extent.
Finally,
I want to remind parents about all of the methods of communication that are
available. This blog/newsletter/weekly
email helps keep you updated on the goings on in class. I do not post homework on here. Engrade is a tool you can use to check on
your child's assignments and grades.
Homework is entered once I've graded it.
The BEST way for you to see what your child's homework assignments are
is for you to check their planner.. They
are required to write down their homework every day.
In
math, we will continue reviewing the material we learned this year. In reading, we will begin Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
(note that in the coming weeks, your child may have a reading assignment that
night!). In writing, we will work on
writing introductions and conclusions, and do several practice AIMS writing
prompts. In science, we will continue
focusing on the planets in our solar system.
Spelling
words for the week:
1. dangerous
2. vacation
3. favorite
4. educate
5. continue
6. sensitive
7. emotion
8. property
9. condition
10. attention

Have
a great week!
