Gonzales Weekly
04/30/12

Welcome to the last three weeks of school!  We are finally in May this week!
I am still in need of mechanical pencils and mechanical pencil lead.  If you have any extra supplies, it would be greatly appreciated.
We had a BLAST at the Pima County Fair last week!  Everyone was well behaved and did a fantastic job modeling how La Paloma students should act!

Progress reports come out today!  I ask that you please sign the “spelling” page and send it back with your child.  I will mark them off and then will send the paper back with them for your safekeeping.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me with any questions.  I will be taking Thursday, Friday, and Monday off, so email will be the best way to get a hold of me.

In math, we will continue reviewing concepts learned this past year, including but not limited to equations and order of operations.  We are still reading Esperanza Rising and will do many more activities as we read.  Make sure to ask your child about the Great Depression!  In social studies, we will begin our state report.  Make sure that your child is studying the location of each state, as there will be a test in about two weeks.

Welcome to another week!

We are now done with AIMS and about halfway through with the 4th quarter!  This last month, we will be doing a lot of project-based class work combined with review.

This Friday is Pima County Fair!  We will be back at 6 PM at the latest.  If you are a parent who wishes to volunteer, I NEED YOU TO CONTACT ME PERSONALLY.  You can email, call, or see me in person.  Either will work; I just need to be positive that you are coming!

Hello and welcome to a SHORT WEEK of 4th quarter!  There is NO SCHOOL FRIDAY OR MONDAY.

This week starts our serious AIMS prep.  We will be doing a lot of review in reading, writing, and math.  We will spend a lot of time doing practice tests and reviewing our test taking strategies as well.

In math, we will study probability.  In reading, we will focus on finishing our centers, which involve a lot of vocabulary.  In writing, we will analyze the guidelines for the AIMS and then look at sample writings.  Later in the week and next week, we will do writing prompts and then peer grade them!
