Gonzales Weekly

I hope everyone had a wonderful Rodeo break!

In math, we are studying for our Geometry test on Friday.  We are finishing our area and perimeter unit this week.  Math homework is an Acuity assessment.  Please make sure that your child completes this at home WITHOUT YOUR HELP.  This is a diagnostic assessment to help me find out what I need to re-teach.

For reading, we will finish Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  There will be several activities we will do with this, as well as a small party.

In writing, I will be ensuring that your child turns in a book report on Friday.  Their third book report is due on Friday!  Please make sure that they do it for homework!

Science will be an introduction to the plant kingdom.  Thank you so much to the parents who worked with your child on their science fair project!  I am so impressed with their hard work.

We will continue learning about the different regions of the United States in social studies.

Welcome to another week!  I will be doing uniform checks every morning and afternoon.  Your child will receive an afterschool detention if I catch them out of uniform more than twice during the day.  This means JACKETS MUST ALSO BE IN UNIFORM.

Math – We will begin a unit on area and perimeter.
Reading – We will continue reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  The class voted to continue the series with the Chamber of Secrets, so we will be reading that in March.

Social Studies – We are beginning our unit on the 50 states.

Gonzales weekly

Welcome to another week!  This is mid-quarter, so your child's progress reports will be going home today!
This is Love of Reading Week!  We are going to have a read-in, complete with blankets, PJs, and books!  Have your child come to school tomorrow with their favorite book to read to the class and in their PJs!  If they do not wish to wear PJs, have them come in SCHOOL UNIFORM.  Anything inappropriate will have them sent to the office.  Wednesday, we will make book marks.  Thursday will be Poem in Your Pocket, which I will explain in class tomorrow.  Friday, students can come dressed as their favorite BOOK character.
In math, we will finish the first half of the Geometry unit with a test on Wednesday, then move on to area and perimeter.   Reading will include a lot of celebrating Love of Reading Week!  Writing will be drafting/editing the book report.
Science will continue to focus on biology.  We will begin a unit on the 50 States this week and should last us through the rest of the month.  This also means that there will be social studies newspapers sent home for homework.
